Case Information: Plaintiff and defendant were operating their respective automobiles in opposite directions. As the parties approached each other, defendant driver crossed the center line and struck plaintiff's vehicle head-on. Plaintiff was trapped in the back seat as gasoline was leaking out of the car. Defendant driver was uninsured. MAIF paid $20,000 and the case proceeded to trial against Defendant State Farm Insurance, the underinsured carrier.

Plaintiff alleged that she received a permanent knee injury as a result of this accident and that the value of her injuries exceeded MAIF's payment.

Defendant State Farm Insurance disputed the nature and extent of plaintiff's injuries.
